How Rocky's Boxer Rescue came to be:
Rocky was my first Boxer and he came to me as a foster that was heartworm positive. I fell in love with him and knew he had found his forever home! During treatment for the heartworms he developed an accelerated heart rate and arrhythmia. I chose not to continue his treatment for fear he would not survive. Miraculously he was heartworm free but still had the heart problems and would've been on heart medicine for the rest of his life. Sadly we lost Rocky due to heart failure on July 16, 2007. It is because of Rocky that I have developed a love for this breed and have learned about the genetic problems that are being carried on to the next generation because proper testing is not done before these dogs are bred.
Our Mission:
This rescue and website have been created to educate the public about the breed specific health problems that Boxers have. If you care to learn more about cardiomypathy and mass cell cancer go to this website http://americanboxerclub.org/healthtbc.html
Our goal is to place rescued Boxers with families that we feel is the best fit for both you and your new Boxer. An application must be completed and sometimes we may ask even more questions to clarify your expectations/situation. Not every dog is right for every individual/family and we try our best to make the adoption of your new pet a happy and permanent one for all.
If you have any questions or want to know the status of a certain Boxer please email Inquiries@rockysboxerrescue.org . We are licensed with the Georgia Dept. of Agriculture as a non-profit no kill rescue. Donations are always welcome. Items needed are crates, dog houses, leashes, collars, blankets, cleaning supplies (bleach, mops, etc), dog beds and good quality dog food. Any cash donation is not only appreciated but is a tax deduction for you or you can sponsor a dog that needs medical treatment.
If you would like to make a donation or sponsor a certain dog please mail to Rocky's Boxer Rescue , 645 Canton Hwy, Cumming, GA 30028

About us:
Our animals are well cared for and in foster homes until adopted. When space is available we can accept owner turn-in's, but require that the dog is non aggressive. We are willing to help you work with your dog to be better able to keep it or you can foster it until it is adopted.
Our priority is to save the ones in animal control first as they do not have much time.

It is an honor to have been given this award in our first year!
